Lucy is a high-concept science fiction action thriller that follows a young American woman living in Taipei, Taiwan. Tricked by her unreliable boyfriend, Lucy is forced to deliver a briefcase to a ruthless Korean mob boss and drug lord named Mr. Jang.
Inside the briefcase is a newly developed, highly potent synthetic drug called CPH4. Lucy is captured and forced to act as a drug mule; the mobsters surgically sew a bag of the blue powder into her abdomen so she can transport it across international borders.
While in captivity, Lucy is kicked severely in the stomach by one of her captors, causing the package inside her to rupture and leak a massive amount of CPH4 directly into her system. Instead of killing her, the drug unlocks the extraordinary and unused capacities of her brain.
As the drug floods her bloodstream, Lucy's cognitive abilities expand exponentially. She begins experiencing supernatural effects:
She gains telekinesis, telepathy, and the ability to mentally manipulate matter and energy.
She loses physical pain, fear, and ordinary human emotions, becoming deeply analytical and detached.

She plans to share all the knowledge she has accumulated before her transformation reaches its final stage.
In the climax, as rival mobsters attack the lab, Lucy injects a massive cocktail of CPH4 directly into her veins. Her body disintegrates as she transcends human physical form, merging with the space-time continuum. When her brain capacity finally reaches 100%, she achieves omnipresence—she becomes one with the universe, able to witness the past, present, and future all at once.
When the baffled police captain asks Professor Norman where Lucy went, a tiny flash drive materializes on the professor's desk. When he plugs it into a computer, a text message appears on the screen: "I AM EVERYWHERE."
