Rajachari's father of Indian origin came from Hyderabad. Colonel Rajachari holds a bachelor's degree in astronautical engineering and a master's degree in aeronautics and astronautics in the US Airforce. He graduated from Naval Test Pilot School.

Before joining NASA, Rajachari also participated in the F-15E upgrade and the F-35 development program.

US Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday announced NASA's Artemis team. These teams will begin preparations for NASA's next moon mission from 2021 and work on the human landing system. Flight assignments will be selected for this team. Also, the selection of astronauts to be sent to the moon will also be done in the coming time.
