Delhi High Court stays order of CIC to give information about PM Modi's foreign trip.


The Delhi High Court on Friday stayed the Central Information Commission (CIC) order directing the Indian Air Force (IAF) to provide 'Special Flight Return (SRF) -II information and in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Pm Information on special flights operated by Narendra Modi) for foreign travel is also included.

Justice Naveen Chawla said that the detailed information of the officials of the ministry and departments accompanying the Prime Minister sought by the RTI applicant cannot be made public but there will be no loss due to the number of passengers and flights.

The court also issued notice to RTI applicant Commodore (retired) Lokesh Batra and asked his opinion on the Air Force's appeal against the instruction given by the CIC on 8 July.

With this, the court postponed the next hearing of the case till 12 April 2021. The court has put a stay on the implementation of CIC's directive till then. The court commented that the CIC should be more clear about what information can be provided and which information is kept separate from the Right to Information Act.
